Bitcoin and Beyond:
A Guide for People Who Remember When Phones Had Cords

A Senior’s Guide to Understanding the Cryptocurrency Revolution
Welcome to Bitcoin & Beyond – the cryptocurrency guide that doesn’t assume you were born with a smartphone in your hand. I’m Walter, and over the next six episodes, we’re going to demystify this whole cryptocurrency world together, without the hype, without the jargon, and definitely without treating you like you need a computer science degree to understand digital money.
Module 1

1. Remember When We Said We’d Never Trust Online
In this introduction, I’ll give you a roadmap of what’s coming – from understanding what Bitcoin actually is and why it matters, to learning how to keep your digital money safe, to figuring out if any of this belongs in your financial picture. We’ll explore the wild story of how a mysterious programmer’s experiment became a trillion-dollar phenomenon, and I’ll answer the questions you’re actually asking – like ‘Am I too late?’ and ‘Is this all just an elaborate scam?’
Module 2

2. From Pizza to Billions: The Wild Story of Bitcoin’s First Decade
You’ll discover how a digital currency born from the ashes of the 2008 financial crisis survived government bans, exchange collapses, and countless obituaries declaring it ‘dead’ – only to come roaring back stronger each time. We’ll explore the colorful characters who shaped Bitcoin’s early years including the pizza buyer who became crypto folklore.
Module 3

3. Digital Money That Actually Makes Sense (Once You Get Past the Jargon)
In this episode, we’ll explore what makes cryptocurrency fundamentally different from the money in your bank account, why that matters for your financial future, and how this technology addresses real problems you’ve probably experienced yourself. We’ll break down the revolutionary concept of peer-to-peer transactions – imagine being able to send money directly to someone anywhere in the world, instantly, without asking permission from a bank or paying outrageous fees.
Module 4

4. What People Actually Do With This Stuff
Forget the hype about buying Lamborghinis and retiring to private islands – let’s talk about what regular people are actually doing with cryptocurrency in the real world. Spoiler alert: it’s not nearly as glamorous as the internet would have you believe, but it’s a lot more practical and interesting than you might think.
Module 5

5. How to Buy Your First Bitcoin Without Getting Scammed or Losing Your Shirt
In this video, we’re going to demystify the entire Bitcoin buying process. You’ll discover exactly what those “KYC” verification requirements are all about (spoiler: it’s just like opening a new bank account, but with a few extra steps), and why they’re actually there to protect you, not annoy you.
Module 6

6. Understanding the Risks: What Could Go Wrong and How to Protect Yourself
We’re going to explore the genuine risks that come with cryptocurrency investing – not to scare you away, but to help you make informed decisions like the intelligent adult you are.

Crypto Today: A Reality Check
Here we are in 2025, and cryptocurrency has evolved from a nerdy experiment into a sprawling digital frontier that’s part technological revolution, part Wild West casino, and part modern-day gold rush.
Bitcoin has survived more “deaths” than a soap opera character, Ethereum has gone green by ditching its energy-hungry mining for something called “proof of stake” (which sounds suspiciously like corporate buzzword bingo), and there are now thousands of cryptocurrencies with names that sound like rejected Pokemon characters. While legitimate innovations continue to emerge – major banks now offer crypto services, and some countries have made Bitcoin legal tender – the space remains populated by enough snake oil salesmen to stock a 19th-century traveling medicine show.
The golden rule hasn’t changed since the days of tulip bulbs and dot-com stocks: if someone promises you guaranteed 1000% returns, wants you to “act fast before this opportunity disappears,” or needs you to recruit your friends to unlock the “secret,” your scam detector should be ringing louder than a fire alarm. Do your own research, start small if you start at all, and remember that legitimate investments don’t need to be sold with the urgency of a late-night infomercial. The crypto revolution may be real, but so are the people trying to separate you from your retirement funds with promises that would make P.T. Barnum blush.
